GenACT Kijana Kiongozi

A Coordinated Youth Engagement

We work collaboratively with GenACT members and local government officials to identify passionate adolescents and young people to be engaged in various decision making platforms, we call them GenACT Kijana Kiongozi. After identifying them, we provide training and guidance to them on how to be an active and effective in their engagement and participation. The training is focused on equipping them with skills they will need to during their engagement. We then provide financial support to facilitate logistics and communications during preparation, attendance and report writing. The GenACT Vijana Viongozi is responsible to report back on issues discussed during their engagement to their community. They will do that through various channels and approaches including contributing the annual publication “Vijana Report: The Current State of Youth”

Hadithi & Nyimbo

Community Dialogues through Story Telling

In African tradition, challenges are being solved through dialogues that engage the community. These “under the tree” dialogues used variety of approaches in addressing the challenges including art, music and story telling. “Nyimbo & Hadithi” employs these traditional approach to facilitate community dialogues at the grassroots level These intergenerational dialogues aim to address local specific issues affecting adolescents and youth. This model uniquely combines powerful storytelling with music and interactive performances, fostering safe spaces for open, empathetic community discussions.

Online & Offline Peer-to-Peer Support Towards Care

We co-create with adolescents and youth and publish content through various channels including social media and the soon to be launched XYZ website. The platform offers access to accurate the digital CSE courses, SRH information, services and products that they need. Apart from providing accurate information that would drive healthy behaviour outcomes, trained Youth Clinical Advisors offer guidance, screen young people for their service needs, and issue coded referral slips or QR links to our partner providers, including the nearest youthfriendly clinics, legal-aid desks, helplines, or psychosocialsupport providers.

Vibes & Mchongo

Capacity Building and Opportunity Sharing Platform

We are building a hybrid learning and matchmaking hub that equips youth and youth-led organizations with the skills, resources, and connections they need to drive change. Features include Curated calendar of live masterclasses on-demand micro-courses peer-mentorship circles, and expert clinics Members can upskill in advocacy, social accountability, digital storytelling, fundraising, and organizational management at their own pace or in cohort-based sprints.

Network and Movement Building

Each year, GenACT brings together all members, Vijana Viongozi, Clinical Advisors, Partners, and decision makers for a gathering to consolidate advocacy issues, exchange knowledge and sharing opportunities.

The gathering features; Policy dialogues based on the issues identified in the community dialogues at the sub-national levels Creative expression activities where young people showcase their impact driven, innovative, creative and artistic work. Opportunity sharing platform through exhibitions, gallery walks and on-site service delivery We also use this opportunity to conduct the Annual General Meeting.
